Growing up with the overwhelming social and cultura l pressures that influe nce every fema le in Pakistan, I developed a passion towards the empowerment of women, financial inclusion and other development issues in Pakistan from a very young age. Having an immense zeal for
science, research and innovation as well, I pursued a Masters degree in International Development and Project Management and I was working as assistant professor during my
masters degree. My aim is to work towards the betterment of the society with a focus on poverty alleviation. I believe the social, economic and political road to prosperity lies in the
empowerment of the local communities.
During my postgraduate studies, I was able grasp worldwide socio-economic policies,
financing mechanisms and their respective challenges. I was particularly interested in the opportunities of skill development and livelihood for the ultra-poor, and chose this as my prime
area of focus. I undertook several projects including my dissertation and research internship, focusing on small community infrastructure, skill development for the improvement in
financial conditions of the local communities of developing countries of South Asia and Africa.
Subsequently, I initiated a career in INGOs of Pakistan. I started my career as a volunteer with Plan International in 2010 when Pakistan was hit by its worst natural disaster floodwater inundated up to one fifth of the country and affected an estimated 20 million people, I have also been a part of Pakistan Emergency Food Security alliance-PEFSA and Shangla Earthquake
Response with Oxfam GB. My Professional experience includes working with Donor agencies like World Bank and German Bank KfW on development and management of multiple
livelihood programmes in rural Pakistan including monitoring of budget, activities and grantees, evaluatio n of ongoing and completed projects to provide insight and recommendations, coordinating with district governments to facilitate and improve financ ia l
policies, and community awareness ventures. I have also worked with International Rescue Committee as a part of their Emergency Response Team and played a significant part in rolling out IRCs Strategy Action Plan. Throughout my experience, my desideratum has been to continuously and progressively integrate innovation into each venture whether it be the
strategies, policies, management of existing programmes or the commencement of a new one, while raising awareness of the existing issues and potential solutio ns, hereby motivat i n g community members to demand their rights. Evolution and innovation in policies and
legislations will lead to best practices and improved service delivery, and the ideal way to do this is to empower the community to speak for themselves.
Having amassed considerable experience in the development sector professionally, this job opportunity will allow me to build my academic and professional skill set, discuss ideas with like-minded professionals and experience work in the development sector internationally.
