Hybrid Li-Ion And Super-Capacitors Based Energy Management System For Electric Vehicles (EV's)

In this 21st century, the availability of fuel is decreasing and its price is increasing day by day. Soimplementation of electric vehicles is a best alternative of it. The usage of electric vehicle has also another major advantage that is clean and green which reduces the carbon footprints. But there is problem of efficiency and driving range. This problem will be overcome by using the hybrid energy system. This MATLAB hybrid energy system model uses Li-ion and Super-capacitors for the efficient working and improved driving range of electric vehicles. As li-ion batteries have high energy density (ability to store more energy per unit mass) and super-capacitor have high power density (ability to store and release more short-term power), so the super-capacitors ability of longer life cycles will enhance the health and life li-ion battery. An Energy Management System (EMS) will manage and control the source of Li-ion and Super-Capacitor, and will supply power to the electric motor according to the need of it. Here, regenerative braking system has also been used to save power during braking and use that power to charge Li-ion and Super-Capacitor.
