<div><p>Narcissism is a psychological trait characterized by an excessive focus on oneself and a desire for external validation. In the context of social media, it involves seeking approval through likes, comments, and shares, and engaging in peer comparison, potentially contributing to the development of narcissistic tendencies among young individuals. The research explores deeply into the complex dynamics of young people's use of social media in Pakistan. It highlights the possible relationship between the development of narcissistic traits and the pursuit of validation via likes, comments, and shares as well as peer comparison. By utilizing qualitative research techniques, specifically semi-structured interviews with psychologists, social media content creators, and members of peer groups, the study seeks to obtain comprehensive understanding of the intricate connection between social media usage and the emergence of narcissistic characteristics. The study explores into how social media affects young people in Pakistan and whether comparing oneself to others online or pursuing likes and comments might lead to a greater sense of self-centeredness. Important questions include what happens to young people who receive likes and comments on social media and what arises when they compare themselves to other people online. Results suggest that while positive online feedback can increase self-esteem, it may also lead to increased self-focus. Furthermore, social media comparisons might create the impression that one must live up to a standard of perfection.</p></div>
