"PREVALENCE OF UPPER LIMB MUSCULOSKELETAL DISORDERS AMONGST CAMERAMEN IN MA

<div><p>Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) are a common concern throughout the world and a major cause of disability in the workplace. Awareness regarding these musculoskeletal conditions and their probability of occurrence associated with the job scope is of utmost importance. Moreover, with the particular job scope of a cameraman, recent studies have shown a high risk in the development of upper extremity musculoskeletal conditions such as shoulder and neck pain. However, research on this topic is limited and data available is scarce. Hence, this research objective was to determine the prevalence of upper limb musculoskeletal disorders among cameramen in Malaysia. A cross-sectional quantitative study design with a sample size of approximately 384 cameramen was recruited. The Cornell Musculoskeletal Discomfort Questionnaire (CMDQ) is distributed in the form of an online survey to online communities of cameramen residing in Malaysia. The findings showed that the prevalence rate for the most affected body segment was found to be the neck region, with a prevalence rate of 76.8%. This was followed by the right shoulder at 75.8% and then the upper back at 74.5%. Furthermore, CMDQ methodologies demonstrated that 81.25% of all respondents were at a high risk of developing MSDs. Cameramen in Malaysia have shown a significant prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders, and our findings revealed that cameramen are at a high risk of developing neck, shoulder, and back pain. As such, corrective measures must be immediately implemented to overcome health risks and improve public health awareness among cameramen.</p></div>
