I served as a Psychosocial Support Officer with Islamic Relief Pakistan on an emergency project funded by GAC. In this project, I worked with the project team, conducting social mobilization in various flood-affected areas. I engaged with diverse communities, including Pashtoon, Baloch, Brahvi, and Sindhi, distributing primary health and hygiene kits and providing training on their usage. For women, I distributed MHM kits and conducted hygiene-related training. I also promoted mental health, offering counseling to traumatized individuals. In Pashtoon areas, I delivered training in Pashto, and in Baloch and Brahvi areas, I used Balochi and Brahvi languages to counsel on the importance of mental, physical health, basic hygiene, healthy eating habits, hygiene sleep, daily Exercises.
After completing my first project at SEHER organization, I was appointed as a Case Management Officer for another project by UNHCR, named ALAC, which Seher was running. In this role, I handled cases of Afghan and Iranian refugees, entered their cases into UNHCR’s software, and forwarded them to the online reception. Refugees would present their cases to me in Pashto, Balochi, Farsi, or Dari, and I would translate and convert the information into English for data entry.
I worked as a psychologist and well-being officer with SEHER, a local humanitarian organization partnered with UNHCR, focusing on Afghan refugees living in different areas around Quetta. I first conducted assessments to identify the refugees and their needs, then set up psychosocial support centers in their communities. At these centers, I provided counseling on mental health and basic needs and nutrition and focused how to maintain physical health along mental health and daily excise for both children and women, identified cases of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), and offered counseling to those affected. I created a healthy and creative environment to inspire hope and encourage a better life through various supportive techniques like stress management, daily yoga and starching training, playing physical and logical games and art and crafts.
