Basit is primarily interested in youth empowerment. He has over three years of experience in the nonprofit sector in the capacity of a volunteer and professional. He earned his Bachelors degree in Sociology from Kohat University of Science and Technology, Pakistan, in 2019. He recently completed an internship with the Local Government Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) under the KP Youth LEAD Program, funded by the Norwegian Embassy in Pakistan with collaboration of UNDP. During this internship, Basit directly coordinated and organized the training of seventeen newly inducted officers of Local Govt. department and helped in managing workshops, writing reports, and coordinating with partner organizations. In 2018, he was selected as a member of National Youth Assembly (NYA) of Pakistan, where he represented the youth of his province. The same year, he cofounded a nonprofit organization, Son of Kohat, which aimed at developing and engaging disadvantaged youth through an initiative called Sports4Development. Basit is currently working as an invigilator with British Council for Cambridge International Examination. In addition to this, he has been working as a team leader for the last one year with Read Pakistan to promote literacy. He attended an online semester program for language and intercultural learning at Renison University College, Canada. Similarly, he regularly attends online meet ups at Tampa Language Center, Florida, U.S. All of these diverse opportunities enhanced his leadership, interpersonal communication, teamwork, and research skills. To add further, he interned with two nonprofit organizations Centre of Education and Consciousness (CEC) and Center for Research and Security Studies (CRSS). At CEC, he managed a team of thirty champions4change for sexual and reproductive health and rights and monitored field activities. At CRSS, he worked in a project called Ulasi Taroon (Social Cohesion) that helped to build capacity of students on conflict resolution, human rights, and interfaith harmony. In a nutshell, Mr. Basit has a well-rounded theoretical and practical experience by working with several organizations, which makes him a competitive candidate for this prestigious opportunity, to play his proactive role in bringing a positive and needed change in the entire region.
Worked at Local Governance School (Local Government department) under KP Youth LEAD Programme of UNDP, supported by Norwegian Embassy in Pakistan and implemented by School of Leadership Foundation.
Coordinated a pre service training of Newly inducted Officers BPS17 of Local Government department and participated in Module Developing workshop aiming Local Government Amendment Act 2019 KP.
Worked as an Intern where my basic responsibilities were but not limited to report writing, minutes of meeting, office management, assisting project officer, coordination with external employees (trainers), events management etc.
Conducted Interviews and questioners based data from University's students and youth across KPK on different aspects. And also supervised other Surveyors too.
