The Lahore American School (LAS) is an independent co-educational day school which offers an educational program from pre-school through grade 12 for students of all nationalities. Selective admission is based on prior academic achievement, standardized test scores, a writing sample, and a personal interview. Originally founded in 1956 to serve American students overseas, LAS is a highly esteemed international institution following an American college preparatory program. The school is accredited by Middle States Association and the standards-based curriculum is consistent with contemporary curricula in the United States. The academic environment at LAS is rigorous, demanding, and competitive. The level of English used in the classroom is comparable to an American college preparatory school and the international faculty is comprised of citizens from the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Iran and Pakistan. Most hold a Masters degree and more than 90% hold teaching credentials from the US or Canada.
