The Lab Chemist will be responsible for conducting chemical and physical tests on leather samples and environmental materials (such as water, soil, and air) to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and client specifications. Working under the guidance of a Senior Chemist or Lab Manager, the candidate will support quality control, testing, and reporting processes in both leather and environmental testing laboratories.

Environmental Testing:

Conduct water, air, and soil testing for various environmental parameters such as:
- Water pH, turbidity, and dissolved oxygen levels
- Stack emissions monitoring
- Wastewater and drinking water analysis
- Air quality monitoring (e.g., particulate matter, emissions, etc.)

Laboratory Operations:

Prepare and calibrate laboratory equipment as needed, ensuring all instruments are functioning properly.
Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all tests and procedures.
Maintain cleanliness and organization within the laboratory space, ensuring a safe working environment.
Assist in maintaining inventory of chemicals, reagents, and supplies required for testing.

Data Management and Reporting:

Record and interpret test data with accuracy, ensuring results are documented and filed as per laboratory standards.
Prepare test reports and provide them to senior chemists or lab managers for review and validation.
Ensure confidentiality and integrity of all data and reports generated.

Compliance and Safety:

Follow all health, safety, and environmental protocols to ensure a safe laboratory environment.
Ensure compliance with laboratory accreditation requirements (e.g., ISO 17025).
Participate in internal and external audits as required.
