Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the oral surgeon during surgical procedures, including patient positioning, instrument handling, suctioning, and tissue retraction.
  • Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
  • Assist with patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures, including monitoring vital signs and providing post-operative instructions.
  • Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays).
  • Maintain accurate patient records and inventory of surgical supplies.
  • Assist with patient education and counseling.
  • Maintain a clean and sterile surgical environment.

Qualifications:

  • Matric or equivallent in Dental Assisting or equivalent.
  • Current certification in CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Experience in dental assisting, preferably in an oral surgery setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and excellent hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Skills:

  1. Clinical Assisting Skills: Proficiency in assisting with various oral surgical procedures.
  2. Sterilization & Infection Control: Knowledge and adherence to infection control protocols and sterilization techniques.
  3. Radiography Skills: Ability to take and develop dental radiographs accurately.
  4. Patient Care Skills: Providing compassionate and supportive care to patients before, during, and after procedures.
  5. Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, surgeons, and other team members.
  6. Organizational Skills: Ability to maintain a well-organized and efficient workspace.
