Position Summary:

The Supporting Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking as per the shared weekly menu, following all safety and sanitation procedures. This role involves working in a fast-paced environment, ensuring high-quality food preparation, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen.

  1. Food Preparation:
    • Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to recipes and menu specifications.
    • Chop, slice, and dice ingredients to ensure timely preparation.
    • Season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience.
    • Must have experience in cooking food for schoolchildren
  2. Menu Planning:
    • Assist in planning and developing menus, including daily specials.
    • Suggest new dishes based on seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.
  3. Kitchen Management:
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen.
    • Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly cleaned and maintained.
    • Monitor inventory levels and place orders for ingredients and supplies as needed.
    • Oversee the storage of ingredients and supplies, ensuring they are properly labeled and stored.
  4. Quality Control:
    • Ensure all dishes are prepared and presented according to the restaurant’s standards.
    • Monitor food quality and consistency.
    • Conduct taste tests to ensure the best flavors and presentation.
  5. Safety and Sanitation:
    • Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
    • Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
    • Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of food and ingredients.
  6. Team Collaboration:
    • Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient operation.
    • Provide guidance and training to junior kitchen staff as needed.
    • Communicate effectively with waitstaff and management regarding cleaning, cooking, cutting, packing and transportation.
