The primary role is Construction Estimator with knowledge of Project Management and a deep understanding of reading Engineering Diagrams.

The Construction Estimator plays a critical role and is responsible for winning bids by accurately estimating the costs associated with construction projects. This role involves a combination of technical expertise, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of construction processes. The successful candidate will communicate effectively with the Construction Manager, Project Manager, Subcontractors, and Client.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for seeking out, completing, and submitting bid opportunities for the company.
  • Review plan and specifications, calculate quantities, generate quotes and submittals, construct the bid, and create the bid submittal promptly.
  • Coordinates pre-construction meetings for projects awarded to ensure communication and coordination between customers, project managers, and field and office support. 
  • Manages billing, with Project Coordinators, to ensure the accuracy of invoicing, 

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Preferred bachelor's degree from four years in Civil Engineering with 2 years of experience in related scope of work.
  • Knowledge of Bidding (we will train for Bidding software) Project Management software (Primavera P6 preferred), and Microsoft Office software.
  • Calculate and prepare accurate cost estimates for commercial construction
  • Collaborate with project managers and business development teams to prepare competitive bids and proposals for potential construction projects, ensuring estimates align with the project's scope and specifications.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of estimates and bids.
  • Proactively stay up to date with building codes, regulations, safety standards, industry trends, construction techniques, and new materials to improve estimating accuracy and efficiency.

Competencies:

  • Demonstrated expertise in accurately interpreting construction plans and specifications.
  • Working knowledge of construction processes, techniques, and materials.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to ensuring that construction estimates meet or exceed quality standards.
  • Working knowledge of industry-specific software, tools, and databases.
  • Strong organizational skills.

Education and Experience:

  • Experience in estimating Construction projects, preferably ground-up construction, earthwork, and utilities.
  • Strong understanding of construction plans and specifications.
  • Excellent relationship building skills.
  • Problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
