Impact of Asset Quality on Profitability: A Study of Islamic Banking in Pak

Suppliers of fund (savors) and users of fund (investors) are two parties which have been served by financial institutions. In this intermediary role financial institutions associated with high risk because of possibility the user of fund may default and may not able to pay their obligations. This risk is called credit risk, which have negative impact on financial institutions’ profitability and performance. The objective of the study is to investigate the relationship between asset quality and profitability of Islamic banking in Pakistan. Five-year data from March, 2014 to December, 2018 is will be considered to evaluate the impact of asset quality on profitability. The population of the study will include all Islamic banks registered with State Bank of Pakistan. In this study ROA and ROE will be used as profitability indicator and three ratios non-performing finances to financing, provision to non-performing finances and financing to deposits will be used as indicator of asset quality. it is expected that all independent variables would have inverse or negative relationship with profitability indicators which clarifies that close attention must be given by Islamic financial institutions, policy makers and regulatory authorities in reducing the non-performing financing of Islamic banking.

Impact of Advertisement and sales promotion on Profit

This report aims to answer the question ‘To what extent does advertising and sales promotion affect the profitability of Atlas Honda’? From the company’s annual report since 2007 to 2016, the annual profit after tax and advertising and sales promotion expense was taken into study. The report analyses the effects of advertising and sales promotion expenses on the profitability of Atlas Honda. After analyzing the annual reports of Atlas Honda, we can conclude that the relationship between the advertising and sales promotion expenses and profitability is a positive relationship. On comparing the data of 2007 & 2016 it has been found that the profitability increased by 5.422 times while advertising and sales promotion expenses increased 4.75 times.

The report concern with design and implementation of PMS for well fit ((chain of Health and Fitness Clubs) located in UK. An extended framework developed by Aldónio Ferreira and David Otley is selected as PMS for well fit after critical evaluation of BSC, Performance prism, otlay’s PMF and simon’s PMF. This framework support vertical and horizontal integration and it is more holistic than any other framework as well as it supports the cultural aspect are some of the reasons for selecting this framework. After selection of PMS framework we have implemented it on well fit with the help of Portuguese Post Office case study with discussion of current and ideal culture analysis of well fit on seven dimensions with the help of Hofstede culture analysis after culture analysis discussion moves towards the change management. After implementation, there is discussion on the Potential barriers to the implementation of PMS and ways of addressing these barriers.

State banks of Pakistan are playing very important role in the development of Islamic banking and make Islamic banking as the first priority in the banking system. Islamic banking is providing a wide variety of the products which are competitive to the conventional banking system. Islamic banking generally shows an increasing trend in the total assets, total deposits, total financing, total investments, total number of branches, profits, earnings per shares, share holder equity and other financial indicators which shows the financial growth and development of the Islamic financial institutions. The study will help the higher management to make policies for the Islamic banking to grow and develop in low income or developing countries such as Pakistan.
