I have completed my MPhil in Environmental Economics from Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE) Islamabad, Pakistan. During the MPhil program other than educational activities, I have actively participated in student events and learned more about event management. The MPhil program exposed me to learning about Environmental Economics theories and research. I have conducted a thesis on Glacial Lake Outburst Floods: Impact on the environment and socioeconomic conditions of Hunza. Parallel to my studies at the university, I have been working voluntarily with the Local Education Board (LEB), functional at the community level. Students are getting support for their career development. LEB has been organizing seminars, events and arranging classes for students of different levels. I am associated with the board as a student coordinator and had managed several events. Moreover, I have been working in disaster areas in northern Pakistan. I worked as a volunteer for around a month to rescue the IDPs and provide food and basic necessitates. This experience allowed me to learn about providing first aid in emergency situations.
I believe that I am ready to enter into the professional world where I can learn from highly experienced professionals and I’ll utilize the theoretical knowledge in practical work.
Thank you very much for your consideration and time.
Kind Regards,
Irfan Karim
