I am Master of Engineering in Energy and Environmental Engineering with experience of more than 07 years in Disaster Risk Reduction with United Nations Development Programme, Environmental assessments with different Consulting firms for multipurpose activities in accordance with Sindh EPA, Ministry of Climate Change Pakistan’s rules and regulations as well as World Bank’s safeguard policies and EHS guidelines. I have expertise in conducting Environmental assessments, Environmental screening, Initial Environmental Examination (IEE), Development of Environmental Management Plan (EMP), Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) and implementation. Environmental audits, Solid waste management, writing and evaluation of environmental impact statements and carrying out technical audits and support to staff in Environmental monitoring and Health Safety and Environment procedures.
• Hold regular meetings with the DDMA to address structural bottlenecks that impede prompt decision-making and identify and resolve areas of inter departmental dependency and coordination.
• Defining disaster management coordination structures at the district, and local levels with clear allocation of roles and responsibilities of various structures as well as performance targets and accountability channels.
• Keeping close coordination with the Deputy Commissioner and Additional DC for the development of the DRR implementation strategy and field-related work plans.
• Developing or updating guidelines, SOPs, and protocols that District Emergency Operation Center (DEOC), line departments, and other authorities will follow in the event of a disaster in the district and providing mechanisms for the participation of local Media, NGOs, Academia, and grassroots communities at the District, and Taluka levels.
• Testing specific areas of the DRM Plan and Contingency Plans to ensure effectiveness and relevance and managing orientation and awareness session on disaster risk reduction, early warning system and anticipatory actions needs to be taken for disaster risk reduction.
• Planning and organizing mock drills and workshop for DDMA.
Organizing workshops for DDMA
Assist district authorities in setting up coordination bodies in DC offices comprising of members from district management authorities and community based organizations for disaster preparedness, response, relief and rehabilitation at district level.
Implementation support for disaster risk management plans considering risks and vulnerabilities at district and local level, capacities available with public and private sector, and roles and responsibilities of various stakeholders to be performed in preand post-disaster phases.
Organize and coordinate specialized training programs for different stakeholders including community trainings.
Review and upgrade the mechanisms for early warning and dissemination of information to public.
Undertake mock exercises and drills in the selected districts to test the effectiveness of coordination mechanisms, identify where improvements are necessary and further the development of adequate measures for effective risk governance.
Liaise with the Lead Risk Governance Consultant for a more holistic DRM at the twotiers of governance and ensure alignment with the overall provincial risk governance framework
