Gul Ahmed Energy Limited is a 136.17 (gross) MW power plant. It has 9 Wartsila Diesel engines which run on HFO. The engines are rated at 16.29 MW.
I worked in the Operations department of the plant where I solidified my grasp on diesel engine operation dynamics and it's machinery diagnostics. My responsibilities allowed me to work in close conjunction with Wartsila engineers as I got hands on experience of diagnosing engine problem root causes through monitoring and analyzing critical engine parameters on the WOIS (Wartsila Operating Interface System). My work also included understanding the engine supporting systems such as Lube Oil system, cooling water system etc. Keeping my interest in rotary equipment alive, I also got hands on experience and training on the operation and diagnostic aspects of ABB TPL 76 Turbochargers, centrifugal pumps,PD pumps and Westfalia Separators.
I studied rotary machines and their maintenance procedures at SFGCS (Sui field gas compressor Station) specially Gas turbines
