The Mechanical Technician will perform hands on maintenance, troubleshooting / assessment, and repair work on pumps based on the associated skill level traveling to / from customer sites and / or a Bay Valve Service Center. Primary job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following
Perform hands-on shop work and/or on-site disassembly, inspection, reporting, cleaning, and reassembly of pumps, and possibly other mechanical equipment.
Perform day to day and routine safety observations and inspections.
Check, locate, and fix defects and wear in pumps
Align pump shaft, worn bearings, and slippage of drive belt
Examine heat and vibration of pump parts and detect malfunctioning
Dismantle pumps and clean impellers, replacing bearings, and tightening glands
Document repair and maintenance work details
Involved in the examination, development as well as testing of mechanical equipment and tools. Responsible for providing engineering support for workshop activities to ensure that components and equipment is maintained and refurbished correctly.
Maintain, repair, replace or modification of chillers, pumps, coolers, refrigeration units, variable air volume systems, air handling units, exhaust systems, condensers, evaporators, water heating units, and cooling towers.
Responsible for the plant and equipment maintenance and replacement of worn-out parts.
Attend and participate in the staff meetings, safety meetings, and related activities.
Theory and operation of control systems, mechanical equipment, power equipment, energy management equipment, electrical systems and equipment, diagnostic equipment, kitchen facilities, and boiler systems.
Scheduling maintenance and repair of systems.
Explaining technical problems to non-technical colleagues.
Carrying out staff appraisals.
Prepared monthly reports for senior managers.
Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into quality database.
Monitoring and examining each stage of production.
Distributing written Quality Assurance results to appropriate parties.
Monitoring all inspection and testing equipment to ensure current and valid calibration.
Conducting quality audits and surveys.
Responsible for preforming pre planned and preventive maintenance on all mechanical assets.
Repairing and replacing parts on mechanical equipment.
Making recommendations for improvements on plant, equipment and processes.
Completing service schedules.
Carrying out general workshop duties.
Performing basic cutting and welding procedures.
