I am proactive and diligent. I value integrity of people and organizations and admire and respect those who uphold it. I have done internships at Pak Elektron Company (PEL), Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), National Transmission & Despatch Company (NTDC) and Nestle and have worked briefly as a Customer Support Executive (CSE) at IBEX Global.
Interning in the Engineering Department of Nestle under the supervision of its Automation Engineer and learning practical field knowledge from its Electrical Technicians.
As of now, I have visited its Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) and its control room as well as its Frick Compressor Plant which supplies the ice water to the Milk Reception Unit (MRU)and Frick Control Room. I learnt about the processes of each from the respective process technicians. I also saw and briefly studied about Danfoss Liquid Level Sensor which was installed at Frick Compressor Unit to control the Regulatory Valve of the Ammonia Surge Tank. I also visited the LV room that houses the ACB and VFD panels for the WWTP Blower Unit that pumps air in the Aeration Tank of the plant.
At present I am exploring the PowerFlex 70 VFD, trying to learn how to set its parameters. My objective is to learn how to use various instrumention devices and also about different automation devices, how, depending on the application, their paramenters are set and how they are commissioned etc.
USAID Energy Sector Internship Program (2015) was one of the many programs of its Training for Pakistan (TFP) Project. I was placed thereof, in NTDC for six months. Here I availed the opportunity of working in its various departments: Protection, Planning, Design, Extra High Voltage (EHV), Technical Service Group (TSG) and Grid Station Operation (GSO).
My task at PTCL was to sort and resolve customer complaints using pCRM, AAA, OCS, AWG and M2000 software in PTCL's wireless exchange in Gulberg.
Pak Elektron Limited (PEL) is a manufacturer of electrical equipments and home appliances. It comprises of two divisions: Appliances Division and Power Division. I was placed in the Department of Product and Business Development. My supervisor briefed me about the working mechanism of the department and decided to focus for the most part on Power Transformers and the remaining on Switchgears- two of the seven sub-divisions of Power Division.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
Power Transformer: Visited the Power Transformer Winding Shop and Reclamation Center of PEL. Learnt about the classification of transformers into different types; the standard power transformers manufactured by PEL; various differences between LV, HV, and RV windings with LV winding being the inner most winding of a phase, with the HV placed over it and the RV being the top most winding; types of windings- spiral winding (LV) and disc winding (HV and RV); purpose of interleaf, transposition, shielding ring, angle cap, insulation and tap changer in winding; conservator tank; design consideration for a transformer, various Tests- type tests, routine tests and oil tests.
Switchgears: Submittal- single line diagramschematicBOQcomponent details; Types of protection- differential, buchholz (tap changer or simple), under voltage (u/v) and over voltage (o/v), and distance protection; Types of panels- HV, MV and LV; Electrical Parameters and Tests- Routine and Type Tests.
