As a nutrition assistant, youeducate clients or patients on healthy eating and nutrition. You evaluate your patient's dietary habits and help them develop a plan for healthy meals. Your job duties are to conduct patient interviews, provide dietary guidance, and report patient progress to the dietitian in charge
Plan and organize OTP/CMAM activities at designated distribution sites in liaison with health facility Incharge.
Work closely with DoH Health staffs to ensure all aspects of the program understood and appropriate referrals take place to and from the CMAM outreach and well integrated into the Primary Health Care and CMAMI approach.
Work closely with the health facility staff (MO/FMO/LHV), IYCF promoter and LHWs to ensure all children are screen correctly at health facility/OTP center and within targeted area.
Ensure all criteria are respected and understood by the team and community groups, including ; admission, discharge and transfer to and from the community or other source.
Ensure correct clinical diagnosis at the time anthropometric assessment so that the SAM patient receives appropriate treatment and enrollment based OTP admission criteria.
Timely identification of complications, non-responder, and referrals to the NSC and strong follow up until discharge for re-admission in OTP.
Ensure adequate availability of all medical and Therapeutic food supplies and ensure stock is pre-positioned as planned by discussing with Nutrition Officer and logistics.
Follow-up and provide feedback to the health facility Incharge and nutrition supervisor /officer on the amount and quality of the treatment supplies if it does not comply with specified quality standards.
Regular and strong coordination with PHC/CMAMI, NSC and Outreach staff on referral and integrated case management package.
Report on progress and any problems in a timely manner to health facility Incharge and nutrition supervisor/officer.
Through liaison with the community groups, provide effective follow up of all cases: particularly tracing of children who are absent from the program, sick children, long stay children, children not gaining weight, and children with social problems etc.
Provide key Health and Nutrition education messages to beneficiaries based the protocol and guidelines
Respond to inquiries regarding the technical aspects of the program admission and discharge whenever necessary at the CMAM sites.
Provide success stories / case studies in the intervention with coordination of Health facility in charge, Nutrition Officer / Manager.
Comply with National CMAM Guideline OTP protocol strictly for SAM case management.
Perform any other duties requested by the immediate supervisor.
Facilitate the process of behavior mapping at community, identify common barriers of non-utilization of maternal, neonatal and child health services and develop intervention and support implementing partner to implement it
Support implementing partner in the implementation of the community mobilization activities of the Project
Identify related IEC/BCC materials and facilitate to use them in community for awareness
Support partner agency to identify and engage men, women and children in the community to improve the health seeking behaviors of mother
Facilitate partner agency at district and DHO to strengthen capacity of mother groups for health and link them with other self-help groups and organization for empowerment and behavior change

Co-ordinate work of IYCF promoters and Nutrition Assistant as facility staff

Participate actively in tracing and linking the absentee and defaulter of OTP/SFP beneficiaries
Ensure that health, hygiene and nutrition MSGs are addressed properly during the community mobilization and awareness sessions
