Commissionerate for Afghan Refugees (UNHCR funded Project) (http://www.carkpk.org/) The commissionerate for Afghan Refugees was established in 1979 under the Federal Government to facilitate the Afghan Refugees who were crossing the international border and tool asylum in Pakistan. The main objective is to facilitate the afghan refugees in settlement in camp and work for their betterment at camp level.
As a village administration and repatriation officer, my role was to administer camp and management of overall administration and monitoring of all other projects which run for the betterment of Afghan Refugees at camp level, supervising the voluntary repatriation of Afghan Refugees in Iris Validation centers, coordination of protection cases with UNHCR.
As village administration and repatriation officer my responsibilities encompass:
• Assessed socio-economic conditions and requirements of Afghan Refugees and design of proposal for action to be taken to address these needs.
• Coordinated with UNHCR, INGOs and foreign delegations.
• Assisted and facilitating UNHCR, Social Welfare Cell staff and other foreign delegation to the area.
• Negotiation and liaison in between the community and the refugees in order to develop a peaceful living and working environment for both groups.
• Administrator in Earthquake affected area at the IDP camp in Mansehra under the supervision of Relief commissioner and supervise all the distribution and relief activities in emergency
• Monitoring Afghan Refugees at Schools and Basic Health Units at Camp Level in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and submit their weekly and for nightly reports to the Project Director of Afghan Refugees
• Provided information and briefing to different organizations cooperating with the Afghan commissionrate on repatriation.
• Collected data of Repatriation, analysis and report writing.
• Supervision and Administration of the Voluntary Repatriation Program of Afghan Refugees.
• Acting as liaison officer to facilitate foreign donor’s visitors
• Co-ordination of Protection Cases with UNHCR Protection Section.
