Wasim Abbas is a Social activist and Humanitarian worker who earned Master degree in Political Science, currently working as a Citizen Officer for local Organization (HDO) and providing Volunteering services as District Disaster Team Leader for Pakistan Red Crescent Society. He has worked with different National and International NGOs on various projects. He worked with Save the Children International during main floods 2010 and heavy rainfall 2011 Pakistan, including three Provinces Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and Sindh respectively. Due to his services in emergency he was awarded Certificate on Recognition of Services. He also worked for USAID funded projects for Female Empowerment and promotion of Democratic Governance. He has been working in D.I.Khan, which is increasingly becoming multi-ethnic and multi-sect area, badly affected by the ramifications of war on terror and sectarian killings due to its proximity to war torn country Afghanistan. He has successfully worked at such a difficult station which itself is an achievement.

Work with the community for the roll-out of agreed project activities; Formation of Village committees and School Disaster Management Committee (SDMC)
Assist mobilization Team and communities in identifying CB-DRR activities e.g. Early Warning, Hazard Mapping, for community members, and also engage children and youth in suitable engagement/participation sessions through meetings and sessions;
Facilitate the process of community mobilization and formation of Village Disaster Management Committee;
Supervise and Conduct Capacity building programs at school and community level for VDMCs and also cover Hazard, Risk, Vulnerability and Capacity assessment (HRVCA);
Facilitate and provide technical support to the Village Disaster Management Committees in conducting Hazard, Vulnerability and Capacity Assessment and also develop report;
Work with Village Disaster Management Committees to come up with Community Based Disaster Management (CBDM) Plans;
Facilitate and provide technical support to the School Disaster Management Committees in conducting Hazard, Vulnerability and Capacity Assessment and also develop report
Introduce the project concept and develop a long-term vision of the project in the proposed communities.
To conduct with networking of selected youth, stakeholders and communities.
To raise awareness that youth themselves can move each community, and to show them ways they can do this for themselves.
To assist youth & community to identify needs and to generate solutions, identifying priority issues and to analyses their problems according to project.
Provide information for monthly reports as per agreed reporting formats and submit to the project manager.

Represent and explain the project and its objectives as per the communication strategy of the project to the beneficiaries.

Assist in coordinating trucking arrangements and other logistics and material requirement for the planned commodity distributions to ensure timely delivery of commodities to distribution sites/centers
Assist in proper crowd control barriers such as fencing, security guards, etc. to facilitate smooth and speedy distribution of NFI.
Assist in the preparation of a distribution timetable and informs recipients/beneficiaries through the community leaders and other possible means.
Responsible for issuance of correct rations to intended recipients through proper scooping procedures, random checking of family rations, and other criteria deemed necessary for that particular situation.
Oversee that the site is clean and adequate to accommodate the population who normally crowd at the site.
Follows all Save the Children policies and procedures.
Collect daily updated data from warehouse i.e.; commodity receiving and dispatch information.
Beneficiary registration through online system.
Collect daily food distribution data from each Distribution team; compile the distribution reports and create a data base for all the beneficiaries by each Distribution Hub.
Update daily Distribution Board with information of warehouse food stock and distribution activities.
Compile weekly data for preparing weekly/monthly distribution reports as per the prescribed formats.
Provide the Documentation Officer with necessary information in order to prepare monthly/quarterly narrative reports for donors as well as for the country office.
Arrange to keep adequate stock of all commodity management and distribution related forms as per SC’s standard commodity management procedures.
Assessment of targeted villages regarding village’s cleanup campaign and 1000 hygiene kits.
Assessment of volunteers in Village Cleanup Campaign for Cash for Work.
Established fund raising system at village level to resolve village level problems and support vulnerable families and children.
Formulate community organizations in all targeted villages.

Organize three interactive theatres on Health and Hygiene in the target UC.

Established referral mechanism at field level and referred 98 cases to Education, Health, Social welfare, Baitul maal, and Save the children departments like Child Protection, Health and Nutrition, Livelihood and education.

Working as registration and verification assistant in general food distribution project for flood affected area of D I Khan.
Identify the affected villages and prepare a list of our target beneficiaries for each Village Tract as per FLA signed between SC and WFP;
Contact with the local leadership, village heads, school teachers, religious leaders, etc., to identify the most badly hit villages/villages tracts in our target Townships;
Explain to the people about the objectives of our program and take their help to prepare the list of the most needy and badly affected people in their respective community;
Send the list of beneficiaries to the Food Aid Coordinator to prepare a data base by respective Village Tracts and Townships
Assist Food Aid Controller with necessary data such as dates and names of distribution centers, number of beneficiaries to receive food each month, etc., for preparation of a monthly distribution plan for assigned Village Tracts
