I also have a tonne of experience in programme management, health and sanitation, first aid instruction, search and rescue, firefighting, disaster risk reduction, school safety, evaluations, and staff and organisational capacity building. My experience in disaster management has given me the abilities to handle emergencies well and act promptly to protect the safety of everyone concerned. Additionally, I am an expert in forecast-based financing (FbF), a method for proactively and wisely allocating resources to lessen the effects of foreseeable disasters.
I am currently serving as a Project Manager for Forecast-based Financing (FbF) at the Pakistan Red Crescent Society Khyber Pakhtunkhwa supported by German Red Cross. where I oversee and manage the implementation of project activities related to disaster risk reduction and response. In this role, I work closely with the Provincial Project Coordinator, Deputy Director - FbF (PRCS-NHQ), and other stakeholders to develop and implement project activities, monitor technical interventions, and support resource mobilization efforts. I also prepare budget forecasts and narrative and financial reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Coordination and relationship building with strategic partners, local authorities, and other stakeholders are key components of my role, along with organizing and facilitating trainings and workshops related to the FbF project at the provincial and district levels. With strong project management skills, knowledge of disaster risk reduction and response, and effective communication, I am committed to achieving the objectives of the project.
At Pakistan Red Crescent Society Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a Norwegian Red Cross supported project, As an IMR Officer, Reporting to the Project Manager, I am responsible for providing technical guidance to the district team to ensure the effective and efficient implementation of Mobile Health Team MHTs and Field Health Unit Bakka Khel activities.
My key responsibilities include creating and implementing policies and procedures for data management, determining methods for quality data collection, ensuring adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy of data, implementing effective and secure procedures for data processing, defining and implementing procedures for data sharing with upper management, management, and external stakeholders, supporting others in the daily use of data systems, ensuring adherence to legal and organizational standards, extracting reports and data when needed, monitoring and analyzing information and data systems, evaluating the performance of data systems, troubleshooting data-related problems, and suggesting solutions to identified problems.
Moreover, I have tested, validated, and reformulated models to foster accurate prediction of outcomes, created graphs and charts detailing data analysis results, cleaned and manipulated raw data, used statistical software to analyze and process large data sets, applied feature selection algorithms to predict potential outcomes, understood and followed oral and written directions, planned and completed group projects, working smoothly with others, and collaborated with others to discuss new opportunities.
Under the overall supervision of PM-SSP, the Senior SSO was responsible for providing technical guidance to the District school safety teams to ensure efficient and effective implementation of School Safety Programme (SSP) activities. They functioned as a focal person at provincial branch for the District school safety officers regarding the program implementation and provided technical support to the SSP field staff for effective and efficient implementation of activities on a regular basis in close collaboration with PM-SSP.
They also provided technical support to the field officers at Khyber for assessments, planning, and smooth implementation of SSP activities as per the project plan. The Senior SSO supported FOs, SSCs, JYCs, and ERTs for the development of school safety plan and facilitated the formulation of school evacuation plans for the school safety committee and the field officers.
They ensured periodic monitoring of all SSP activities in Khyber as well as in other tribal districts of KP, and provided quality reports, including activity reports, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on PRCS Standard formats as per agreed deadlines. The Senior SSO was responsible for following up on key challenges, suggested solutions, and case studies reflecting good practices on a regular basis.
They prepared and consolidated monthly, quarterly, and annual project implementation plans in close collaboration with the KP tribal districts field staff, and ensured timely submission of expenditure details along with complete required documentation for finance settlement. They supported the SSP TDs field staff in developing session plans on School Safety and facilitated evacuation drills and simulation exercises for school children, teachers, and school safety committees.
The Senior SSO took the lead in conducting SSP baseline assessment at Khyber and facilitated internal and external visits to Khyber. They maintained the database of JYCs, SSCs, and ERTs and updated it as per need. The Senior SSO developed and maintained close coordination with District Administration, Education department, I/NGOs, and other relevant stakeholders.
They kept a record of school safety kits and hygiene kits at the district level and were responsible for disseminating the kits to schools and students. The Senior SSO ensured participation in regular coordination meetings at the district level and provided updates on PRCS SSP activities and sought support where needed.
They oversaw and ensured that the project activities were aligned with the agreed exit strategy leading towards sustainability of program interventions. The Senior SSO also performed other duties and functions as given by the PM-SSP from time to time. Additionally, they escorted individuals requiring personal protection to provide safe transport to specified locations, explained security protocols to employees and guests to promote readiness for emergency situations, administered first aid for minor medical situations, and contacted paramedics for medical emergencies.
During my tenure as a School Safety Field Officer for PRCS KP (Norwegian Red Cross) from January 2019 to September 2020, my responsibilities included:
· Taking a lead role in the planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting of day-to-day project activities, and ensuring maximum efforts for effective and efficient program delivery at the field level.
· Supporting in baseline data collection for SSP and ensuring proper documentation of data.
· Facilitating the formation, strengthening, and capacity building of the School Safety committees, ERTs, and Junior Youth Clubs (JYC).
· Supporting school safety committees, ERTs, and JYC in carrying out simulation exercises and formulation of school evacuation plans.
· Supporting SSCs and ERTs in the development of school safety plans for targeted schools in the district.
· Facilitating SSCs, JYCs, and ERTs in conducting multi-hazard risk assessments at schools.
· Ensuring submission of field visit reports and supporting the Senior School Safety Officer in preparation of activity reports, monthly, and quarterly reports.
· Preparing and submitting quality case studies on a regular basis highlighting the impact of SSP.
· Facilitating the field visits of the provincial/national PRCS and partner teams.
· Organizing and supporting SSCs, ERTs, and JYCs in conducting mass awareness events for the School safety program in the district.
· Conducting sessions for target school children on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Climate Change Adaptation (CCA), Psychosocial Support, protection, Gender Mainstreaming, Health, and Hygiene.
· Acting as the focal person for conducting thermal screening camps under Covid-19 response at district Peshawar.
· Enforcing institutional rules, regulations, and laws regarding student conduct to maintain a safe campus.
· Detecting emergency situations through keen listening and close observation to respond appropriately to alarms.
· Responding to emergency calls regarding illnesses, accidents, and disturbances.
· Participating in emergency, evacuation, and shelter drills to prepare for health or safety emergencies.
My responsibilities is imparting First Aid trainings to Govt. /NGOs , University , Colleges and in Schools at Provincial level and Charsadda District Level . I have trained more than 2800 teachers and Students in all over the province.
