Experienced OT nurse with over 12 years of service in Medecins Sans Frontieres seeking to expand my role to become an OT supervisor. With my extensive experience in the field, I have demonstrated a commitment to providing high-quality care to patients and have honed my skills in the operating theatre. As an OT nurse, I have assisted in a wide range of surgeries and have experience in post-operative care and patient education. I am skilled in managing surgical equipment and supplies and maintaining a sterile environment. I have also contributed to training and mentoring other nurses, and have strong leadership and communication skills. As an OT supervisor, I am eager to take on more responsibilities and contribute to the continued success of MSF's mission.
•Ensure preparation of the material and equipment in the OT, receive patients and ensure that pre-operative checklist is done, making sure they are ready for surgery and post opérative checklist
•Ensure that operation theater floor, used trolley for carring patient and shoes are cleaned and disinfected after each use and placed in the storage or decinated place ready for the next use
•Reinforces all OT standards prescribed in the procedure manuals and MSF guidelines and protocols.
•Assist the surgeon and anaesthetist during the operation, anticipating their needs in order to facilitate their job; close monitoring the vital parameters of the patient at recovery and make sure that the patient is in stable condition before sent to the department
•Organise patient transportation from the OT to the recovery room and carry-out and/or supervise all the postoperative procedures i.e. patient is not bleeding while transfered.
•Activities to prepare the OT for the next scheduled operation or emergency Implement the hygiene, sterilisation, asepsis and disinfection protocols and procedures at all times, before, during and after operations, to ensure the safety conditions of patients and staff
•Collaborates with Nursing Activity Manager in determining and obtaining equipment and supplies needed in the performance of patient care.
•Supervise and train the OT Nurses and Technicians, nurse aides and cleaners while in the OT, following MSF protocols
•Control all equipment and material stock used in the OT to ensure efficient and rational use of material resources Contribute to monthly reports according to guidelines
• Ensure that all staff (Surgeons, Nurses, And other staff) are aware and observe OT rules and regulations i.e approprient clothing (EG : OT Tunic) and shoes in the Theater to minimise infection transmission.
•Responsible for safety and comfort of patients, and the health and safety of employees assigned to the OT.
•Collaborates with ancillary support services to provide a safe, clean and secure environment for patients, staff and visitors.
• All staffs have there job descriptions Read to them, they understand and comply to MSF standard and should practise what is within there scope of practise
• Participate actively in all supervisors and department meetings and promotes open communication and collaboration within the department, and with other services in the hospital.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Ensure the preparation of the material and equipment (checking the quantity and quality), in the OT and carry-out the reception, transport of the patient from the preparation room to the OT and ensuring his/her installation for surgery.
Assist the surgeon and anaesthetist during the operation, anticipating their needs, in order to facilitate their job and helping throughout the whole process.
Checks vital parameters of the patient with the nurse anaesthetist
Organize the patient’s transport and installation from the operating theatre to the recovery room and carry-out and/or supervise all the post-operative activities (used material collection, OT’s cleaning and disinfection, resetting all equipment and material back), in order to prepare the OT for next surgical intervention or any emergency.
Implement and follow-up the hygiene, sterilization, asepsis and disinfection protocols and procedures at all times, in pre, during and post-operative activities, in order to ensure the patient and staff’s safety conditions. i.e. waste containers availability, sharps container, checking no material or needles remain in the surgical towels, placing instruments into soak container, take instruments/linen to sterilization unit, etc.).
Supervise and train the nurse-aids and cleaners while in the OT in following all appropriate protocols and procedures, in order to ensure the quality of the healthcare given to patients. and train NS where applicable
Perform cleaning and minor maintenance for biomedical equipment used. Follow user manual and protocols and alert supervisor in case of malfunctioning of any device.
Control all equipment and material stock to be used in the OT, in order to ensure an efficient and rationale use of material resources while preventing damage and deterioration.
Carry-out and supervise administrative procedures and documents (check identity of patient and his/her consent for the operation, fill in patients files, forms, statistics, quantitative surgical data collection, etc.), and report any problematic situations and cases arising, in order to have updated and correct information about the day-to-day activity and ensuring proper transfer of information.
Participate in data and reporting
Intervene in support of other services whenever needed and work particularly in close collaboration with the accident, emergency department and with obstetrics.
I am also working as OT Focal person and fulfilling all responsibilties of OT supervisor from more then a year now.

Major Job Responsibilities:
