Under the direct supervisor of the Project Manager, the position holder will be responsible for leading Social Organization and community engagement, and will work with targeted communities, health and education institutions and other structures in the operation area of Sujawal. The role of Social Organizer is to trigger CLTS under PATS approach and declare targeted villages as open defecation free (ODF) with the support of CRPs and other available social structures. The Social Organizer will build partnerships, stakeholders’ support and mobilize efforts to drive participant’s attention to WASH, PATS, CLTS, SLTS and DRR activities and deliver expected results.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Planning of the social mobilization & organization in consultation with the project staff under the supervision of the Project manager.
  2. Identification and selection of the targeted locations as per set criteria of the project.
  3. Initial contact with the target communities for the introduction of the Project and informing the communities of the implementation strategy of the Project
  4. Establishment of the Village WASH Committees (VWCs) in the targeted villages as per the Project’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  5. Raise WASH profile of target area by implementing CLTS/SLTS & PATS approaches effectively
  6. To conduct a participatory approach in promoting good water, sanitation and hygiene practices in the targeted area
  7. To conduct participatory monitoring of water and sanitation facilities usage and maintenance with community
  8. Conduct quality health and hygiene sessions in communities to ensure that the target population are mobilized and adequately informed regarding health and hygiene issues related to water supply, sanitation and solid waste disposal
  9. Conduct training of selected Community Resource Persons on health and hygiene promotion to enable them to conduct onward sessions to target communities
  10. Conduct assessment of beneficiaries, WASH schemes identification, Sign TOR’s with committees, line departments and can effectively maintain data
  11. Supervise and facilitate and trained Community Resource Persons in record keeping, liaising with social welfare, PHED and other line departments
  12. Training VWCs members in Community management skills such as record keeping etc.
  13. Under the direct supervision of the Project manager, He/ She will perform community mobilization activities plan and arrange capacity-building training in concordance with the target population's culture and norms.
  14. Conflict resolution if faced during the project implementation among the beneficiaries of the project activities through the social conflict resolution process.
  15. Acting as the bridge between community members and the project staff.
  16. Informing the community regarding the HAP and complaint-handling mechanism in partnerships will facilitate the fixation of the Complaint Box and banners at some suitable places in the target communities as per consultation with the VWC members.
  17. He/She will facilitate the community to pass their complaints to the management in a transparent manner.
  18. He/She will be participating in periodic meetings of the concerned clusters and networks to discuss work plans and work relatives.
  19. He/She shall perform all additional duties assigned to him by the project Manager.
  20. Facilitate project staff to ensure that child protection and beneficiary safeguarding is being prioritized by the staff in all activities, projects and programs.

Qualification:

a. Graduate degree in social sciences or Management sciences or equivalent.

b. Any other relevant qualification will be a value addition.

Required Experience:

a.       One (01) to three (3) years of proven experience with National and International NGOs

b.      Three years of experience monitoring and evaluating WASH in emergencies, PATS, and charitable and development projects.

c.       Having high-level computer skills (MS Office, Outlook, data management, infographics)

d.      Awareness of UNICEF operational policies and procedures desired

e.       Experience of working on UNICEF projects is added advantage.

f.       Excellent report writing, case studies, project briefs, and infographic skills.

g.      Having excellent knowledge of Beneficiaries and program participants safeguarding.

Travel Requirement:

The job requires approximately 60 % to 80 % to travel to carry out assigned responsibilities within the coverage area (District Sujawal). Traveling to field areas is a significant responsibility organization’s candidate must be willing and able to travel.
