Nutritious Agri Future (Private) Limited (NAF) is a new start-up that implements HarvestPlus and other projects in Pakistan – We implement projects to improve nutrition in agriculture and bridge gaps in the supply chain for biofortified seeds, grains, and foods. We are looking for a Finance and Admin Officer to be based in Islamabad.   

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our new venture with the ambition to decrease malnutrition in Pakistan through the development of highly nutritious food supply chains.  As a start-up our processes and procedures are new so you will have the opportunity to start many ideas from scratch to contribute to the organisation of a high functioning team.  Liaising with colleagues around the globe you will need to be able to create networks and colleagues fast and multi task across different people and projects

Finance / Admin Officer  

OBJECTIVES OF THE ROLE:

  • Official point of contact for NAF on administrative and financial affairs
  • Process and record accounting information timely in the system; issue reports to support the decision-making processes in the NAF. Provide financial information to management by researching and analysing accounting data and preparing reports. Support various NAF-implemented projects accounting and reporting functions.
  • Coordinate overall office functions and be responsible for the management and update of all staff and office policies. 
  • Assist in recruiting national staff, Off-boarding, managing confidential data such as contract renewals, HR data management, and managing relations with all vendors,
  • Responsible for all travel management, event planning, and general procurement,  

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Prepare asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
  • Document financial transactions by entering account information.
  • Summarize current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other reports.
  • Prepare payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • General procurement for NAF, Pakistan office
  • Look after all IT-related issues including email accounts, software, etc.
  • Develop processes and procedures in documentation and recommended software, account keeping systems and digital information management
  • Acquire all policies including HR and financial and keep those updated.
  • Maintain all project information on a computer-based information system.
  • Prepare reports on project matters including collating documents and information as required.
  • Contribute to meeting arrangements including coordination of attendees and preparation of meeting papers.
  • Make travel arrangements (domestic and international) for NAF staff and visitors, including booking travel and accommodation; organising visas; and itineraries.
  • Arrangement of NAF internal staff meetings and meetings with international colleagues

Education & Knowledge and Work Experience: Minimum Formal Education needed.

  • Basic qualifications to qualify through 1st round of screening
  • Ability to communicate fluently in writing and verbally in English and Urdu
  • BA/BS in Finance/Civil or Public Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or related field.
  • 3 years’ experience in financial management with progressive experience in processing donor reports and following up on sub-grants.
  • Experience and basic knowledge of administrative and/or operating processes and procedures of development/research support function.
  • Ability to multi-task in dealing with several different issues at a time and work under high pressure, meet deadlines, and monitor and follow-up on pending matters under minimum supervision.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite.

Preferred Qualities

  • Experience in an INGO or international organization environment will be an added advantage
  • Keen interest in food and agriculture
  • Interest in digitization of administration, tech tools for efficiency

In person interview at the NAF offices – will include other HarvestPlus representatives on video call – participants will be expected to perform a basic literacy and numeracy test during the interview
