Medical Officer - ART Adherence Unit

Service Delivery
- Read the Mentor Book and Doctors coordination diary and sign with comments, date and time.
- Handle new admissions, perform a detailed medical examination
- Ensure that clients are deferred ONLY as per SOPs
- Perform medical Check-up and investigations as well as make referral of clients for appropriate diagnostics and medical interventions
- Handle clients prioritizing their needs as per medical Triage protocols.
- Carry out a brief round of the unit/clients before opening the medical room.
- Daily routine checkup of each client admitted (BP, Pulse and Temperature) before providing medicines (especially for Withdrawal management unit)
Counselling
- To conduct group sessions and lectures as per schedule (e.g. HIV and AIDS; STIs, ARVs & symptoms of OIs and their management etc.)
- Provide individual counseling services to clients according to their needs and case management plan.
Coordination
- Daily attend and participate in the morning meeting and Day plan meeting after having dispensed medication to all clients in need.
- Participate in weekly Case Review Meeting
- Medical Officer should establish linkages with ART clinics and tertiary care hospitals.
- Medical Doctor will give his opinion to the treatment team about the selection and training of mentors at AAU and also for the assigning of mentors for new admissions
- Advise in writing the concerned person/s of any special needs of a client during his stay at AAU.
- Assign medical personnel to accompany every emergency to the hospital and ensure adequate cover in absence from AAU.
Compliance to Bio safety Measures
- Responsible for making and reviewing up-to-date Biosafety protocols as per need of the organization.
- Responsible to ensure properly written & translated Biosafety protocols and its display in the concerned locations of AAU for staff compliance
Record Keeping
- The MO will maintain the following records:
  - Client medical file (Including check-up, medication, referrals, ICs in clients file.)
    - Discharge Summary
    - Client ARVs record
- Submit daily medical service reports to DEO, who will in turn pass this report to Manager. OR directly submit the report to treatment Manager.
Medical Stock
- To daily maintain stocks of medicines and medical supplies received from store and dispensed
To generate demand for medical supplies 15 days in advance and give it to the Manager.
Any other task assigned by the Supervisor.
