Psychosocial Support Officer

Technical:

• Conduct assessment in the areas affected by recent floods in district Mirpurkhas
• Group/individual sessions for communities on a regular basis.
• Maintain a database of rights holders and individual records
• Design, and implement community-based counselling interventions through support group sessions for older people and their families.
• Conduct community emotional health assessments as and when required
• Conduct roving duties as required and as designed in consultation with the Line Manager and the identified  needs of the communities
• Conduct sessions of counseling with patients
• Follow up with registered beneficiaries and support them in developing and complying with the emotional health and healthy living plan
• Establish and maintain accurate and confidential records and train local staff to continue this process beyond the time frame of this intervention.
• Contribute towards establishing appropriate methodologies and approaches for post-traumatic stress disorder clients' counseling and emotional support for affected families and individuals.
• Identify and establish internal and external referral services for emotionally unstable clients.
• Regular and monthly progress reports on the activities and continuous monitoring of the interventions with recommendations including the feasibility of continuation of the service beyond the end of the current project period.

Operational:

• Preparation of weekly/monthly work plans against PMT (performance-measured time frame) by ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks in the stipulated time period.
• Coordinate with all stakeholders especially community activists, COs, VOs, and beneficiary households for smooth implementation of the project
• In place a contingency plan to deal with external factors affecting or may affect the field activities
• Maintain the completion certificate for each communal or household activity is in hand and signed by beneficiaries, committee representatives, and relevant sub-engineer and also handing over to the relevant department
• Arrange skilled and unskilled labor for construction execution
• Preparation of MBs with the agreement of the vendor
• Maintenance of record (hard & soft) that includes but is not limited to Cost estimates, BoQs, drawings, construction plans, Measurement book, daily field visit reports, material requisition, pictorial progress & other documentation.
• Preparation of daily, weekly, monthly, and other progress reports for management’s info.
• Ensure proper filling of forms & formats as per desired standard
• Extend support to MEAL / MIS / Communications staff for gathering desired information.
• Preparation of info for MIS on a regular basis with consultation of Field Engineer / MIS / M&E.
• Close coordination with line manager for effective implementation of project activities.

Organizational:

• Ensure compliance with IR’s policies & procedures in true spirit for effective delivery of services to communities.
• In-depth understanding of IR values and their demonstration in the field while working with communities.
• Abide by the IR zero-tolerance policy towards bribery & corruption through sensitization/empowerment of communities on coping mechanisms so that they can raise their voices as & when feel inappropriate.
• Thorough knowledge of IR strategic priorities to ensure effective implementation with future sustainability.
• Assist in the identification & documentation of organizational successes for showcasing IR work
• Facilitate communities in the adaptation of environment-friendly & cost-effective approaches to meet their current as well as future needs with specific attention to climate change.
• Focused efforts to be made for mainstreaming of marginalized groups i.e. Persons with disability and old age, minorities, Women & Children, etc. in consultation & implementation of project activities at the ground.
• Participation and facilitation in the implementation of IR seasonal programs.

Person Specification:

Qualification and Experience:

Master's degree (preferably in Psychology)

Experience:

Master's degree (preferably in Psychology) with 3 years of experience and/or Bachelor's degree (preferably in Psychology) with 5 years relevant experience. 

Computer Skills:

MS Office, Outlook, ERP systems familiarity

Language:

Urdu, Sindhi, and English

Value Added Skills:

• Relevant experience working with humanitarian/development sector/INGOs
• Working knowledge of Sindhi.

• Local candidates will be preferred
