Position: Data Entry Officer

Program: Gender, Collective Action, and Local Services in Pakistan

Start Date: As soon as possible

Duration: 2 months (can be extended based on performance)

The Institute of Development and Economic Alternatives (IDEAS), a policy think-tank based in Lahore, is looking for smart and qualified individuals to join the IDEAS team.

The Political Economy Cluster at IDEAS provides an opportunity for highly motivated budding social scientists to work on a set of exciting, applied research programs focused on key topics in development, governance, and politics in Pakistan. One of these programs analyzes the dynamics of women’s political participation and substantive representation, and the link between women’s political empowerment and development outcomes.

As a Data Entry Officer, you will be responsible for entering specific data into our databases. You will be responsible for managing data and keeping it organized. Your main goal will be to keep data in order so that it is easily accessible at any time.

Job Description and Requirements

A Data Entry Officer at IDEAS has the following responsibilities:

Transfer data from paper formats into database systems
Type in data provided directly from customers or other parties
Create and manage spreadsheets with large numbers of figures
Verify data by comparing it to source documents
Update existing data
Produce reports
Retrieve data as requested
Perform regular backups to ensure data preservation
Sort, organize and store paperwork after entering data

Qualifications and Requirements

Intermediate degree or equivalent (students currently enrolled in a university program are also encouraged to apply)
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and reliability.
Should be able to work on Microsoft Excel and Word.
Preferably have some experience of working in an office environment
