CORE FUNCTION
To design, implement and lead the integrated planning function within the business. To establish and own the overarching s&op methodologies and associated forums including direct responsibility for demand & supply planning and for overall inventory management
MAIN DUTIES
• Accountable for overall execution of all inventory-related processes across the business and for the level of all inventory holdings
• Responsible for establishment and leadership of Demand and Supply Planning units & processes and all relevant forums relating to inventory decision-making & risk-management
• Accountable for the design, ownership and cyclical execution of all S&OP focussed events and outputs
• A senior leader within the business, working alongside relevant Operations leadership and in close collaboration with key stakeholder functional Directors to support achievement of business-wide goals and key initiatives
• Procurement of all relevant materials in coordination with the outputs of the rolling plan
• Ownership of the end-to-end planning process and for a culture of constant improvement in forecasting accuracy & inventory metrics
KEY OBJECTIVES
• Consistent execution of S&OP forums and cycle ensuring cross-functional inputs are received as appropriate and final executive sign-off of inventory requirements meets needs
• Inventory management is constantly monitored, managed, reported and kept front of mind within direct team and across senior leadership groups in the business
• Develop and ensure maintenance of effective forecast models based on demand signals, customer forecasts, industry trends, product launches and demand patterns
• Ensure close integration and alignment of supply planning, raw materials and component purchasing with meaningfully accurate demand planning thereby supporting timely stock availability and effective utilisation of business cash flow
• Be the advocate for “our customers’ inventory is our inventory” in a partnership-based approach founded on sustainable relationships and long-term mutual success. Evangelise the message across all parts of the business
KPI’s
• Inventory metrics as dictated by the business – Stock Turn; Aged Inventory as a percentage of overall holding;
• Excess Stock Disposal targets; “RAG” methodologies for risk identification;
• Inventory on hand and committed vs sales forecasted
• Transparent visibility of inventory status (committed/in transit/on hand etc)
Person Specification
• At least 5 years' senior leadership experience in Demand & Supply Planning, and Inventory Management, ideally within a fast-moving manufacturing environment
• Significant experience leading S&OP Implementations and ongoing oversight of all related methodologies
• Experience of multi-channel distribution landscape within complex multi-SKU business
• At home in a volatile, fast-moving, fluid environment requiring flexibility and resilience
• Confident leader capable of working autonomously and driving results for self and team
• Strategic thinker, analytical, dynamic, driven, energetic, open-minded, authentic, commercial
• Excellent communication and influencing skills with all senior stakeholders
• Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving skills
• Advanced user in Microsoft Office applications particularly Excel
• Ability to identify and understand strategic patterns and key trends in business and inventory planning
