Job Summary
The Accountant is responsible for managing and reporting financial information, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing accurate and timely financial data to support decision-making processes. The role involves a variety of accounting tasks, including preparing financial statements, managing ledgers, and conducting audits.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of all financial information.
General Ledger:
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger accounts.
- Record and analyze financial transactions.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes.
- Ensure timely payment of invoices and follow up on outstanding receivables.
- Reconcile vendor statements and manage vendor relationships.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget.
- Monitor and report on budget variances.
- Provide financial analysis and forecasting to support business planning.
Audit and Compliance:
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and relevant laws and regulations.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Taxation:
- Prepare and file tax returns by local, state, and federal regulations.
- Stay updated on tax laws and ensure compliance.
Other Duties:
- Assist with special projects as required.
- Provide financial analysis and support for business initiatives.
- Collaborate with other departments to improve financial processes and reporting.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional certifications a plus.
Experience:
- Proven experience as an Accountant or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g. Peach Tree, QuickBooks, SAP, Tally, Oracle, Advanced Excel).
Skills:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
